Lagoons are an alternative to septic systems made by pushing up soil creating a pond that waste water collects in.  These can cost less than traditional septic systems both up front and in the long run.  They're not appropriate for all locations, as you must have elevation drop from the house to the lagoon. (We can always install a pump if needed). Lagoons do require the berms to be mowed to keep the grass down.
