Hydro Jetting
Hydro jetting (also called high-pressure water jetting) is a professional cleaning method that uses a specialized hose with a multi-directional nozzle to blast water at pressures often ranging from 3,000–4,000 PSI through the perforated pipes in a septic drain field (lateral lines). This forcefully removes blockages, sludge buildup, biomat (the slimy bacterial layer that can clog perforations), tree roots, grease, mineral scale, and other debris that restrict effluent flow from the septic tank to the soil.
While not a routine maintenance task for every system—and not always suitable for severely failed or biomat-saturated fields—hydro jetting offers significant advantages when applied correctly to address partial clogs or slow drainage in traditional rock-and-pipe lateral fields. It’s particularly valued for extending the life of an aging but not fully failed drain field.
